Art from Mosswood Meltdown

Every year, John Waters host a music festival in a park in Oakland. I’ve gone three times so far, and have been blown away every time.

Each year, there are bands I am excited to see and bands I’ve never heard of that become new favorite acts.

John Waters is there to introduce each act with poetic ode to why each of the musicians is so special. It’s clear that all the performers love being there.

The crowd is filled with loving punks of all ages - from kids with parents to octogenarians wearing helmets to crowd surf.

The event is a delight and I try to capture that vibe as I draw every set while dancing.

Scroll down to see the drawings I made of all the bands. I’m working on a painting of Iggy Pop on stretched denim - I’ll share that here when I finish.

Here is a compilation of videos of 15 drawings-in-progress during the 2026 Mosswood Meltdown.
