The Artistic Inquiry Don’t Stop

Why use the arts for inquiry? What does that mean?

  • When we get into the flow of making art, we get the synapses in our brain firing more freely and become more open to finding connections between ideas. Making art allows us to think more creatively.

  • Art can help us be better observers. Drawing and painting helps me focus my attention on what I am seeing and hearing.

  • And all art involves an exploration of the artist’s own feelings. I hope that the nuances and energy of my scribbles communicates something that I can’t convey with my words.

I will use this space to share my experiments with artistic inquiry, and my findings.

The first subject of this inquiry is the inquiry itself. I brainstormed with some paint and markers on paper and have it hanging above my desk, just to the right of the screen where I am typing these words.

Alt text for the image:
This is a scribbly painting on paper with a lot of text. In the middle in big text it reads “The Artistic Inquiry Don’t Stop.” Starting from the upper left, there are drawings of paint markers behind a white rectangle with a window in it. Hand-written text is incorporated into the imagery in many bright colors.

Text: Choosing what to focus on
As I make more time to make more art
As I become committed to being VERY intentional about the art I choose to make.

I’ve been pushing for and teaching about arts integration in the classroom.
What does ARTS integration look like in REAL LIFE?

How can my art be USEFUL?

What can I offer?
drawing sketchnotes gives me the superpower of being able to sit through any policy meeting.

I LEARN BY MAKING ART AND YOU CAN TOO
Teaching art can give people more tools for self-expression - and more political power.
Sure the art can be for sale.
Some for sale right away
Some for sale at the show.

A LEARNING WALL on our own platform.
No more working for ZUCHERBERG and Jack.

As I experiment with my art process and practice, I’ll share my thinking on TheArtDontStop.com.
